What's new in 5.3?

Version 5.3 changes how you find and organise your work in Capex Management. Fixed request phase lists are replaced by configurable Custom Views, and Power Mode and the Investment Plan become faster and more flexible. Child requests can inherit values from their parent, notifications can come from one constant sender address, and the first version of the Weissr chatbot lets you work with Capex data in natural language. In Capex Strategy, asset data can be imported from Excel, chart series can be customised, the permissions list is cleaned up, and assets get a new structure that prepares for future features. The release also includes stability improvements and bug fixes.

Custom views and navigation

Fixed request phase list views have been replaced by fully configurable Custom Views, giving teams a flexible way to organise their work.

📍 What's new

  • Custom Views: Superusers define views with their own filters, layouts, view types and sections.

  • Personal settings: Users can personalise a view and easily restore it to the defaults.

  • Collapsible sections: Sections in the navigation can be collapsed, which keeps long navigation menus tidy.

  • Resizable navigation panel: Drag the navigation panel to the width that suits the way you work.

  • Smarter return navigation: Leaving a request details page takes you back to where you came from.

💡 Info: Existing tabs have been migrated to Custom Views automatically, with no impact on your data. You keep the same request lists with the same names, and Superusers can manage these migrated views going forward.

Power Mode improvements

Power Mode gets a faster, more powerful grid experience.

📍 What's new

  • Group summaries: Totals are shown per group, so you see the sums at a glance.

  • Fixed and reordered columns: Columns can be fixed and reordered.

  • Smarter exports: Exports respect grouping and include totals.

  • Clickable request names: Open a request directly from the grid.

  • Currency indicators: Multi-currency data is easier to read.

Investment Plan improvements

The Investment Plan is now far more flexible, especially for large or complex financial datasets.

📍 What's new

  • Available as a Custom View: Add the Investment Plan to your navigation like any other view.

  • Visible years: Choose which years are visible, for example to hide historical years and reduce clutter.

  • Resolution: Switch between monthly, quarterly and yearly resolution.

  • Default layouts: Save personal and admin-defined default layouts.

  • Column widths: Column widths can be adjusted.

Improvements across views

Some improvements apply to every view.

📍 What's new

  • Filters per view: Filters are now applied per view, not globally.

  • Restore defaults: Restoring defaults works consistently everywhere.

  • Refreshed grid: The grid has a refreshed look.

  • Escape in popups: When you edit inside a popup, pressing Escape now closes only the dropdown, not the surrounding popup.

📌 Note: Default Mode is being phased out in favour of Custom Views.

Copy property value from parent on child request creation

Teams that create child requests often type the same values again, such as cost centres, categories or owners. A new property-level setting copies a value automatically from the parent request when a child request is created.

📍 What's new

  • Set on the property: Turn it on directly on the property, with no extra mapping or advanced configuration.

  • Copied once: The value is copied only at the moment the child request is created.

  • Normal value afterwards: Once copied, the value behaves like any other property value. Editability, visibility and validation rules continue to apply.

Constant sender email for notifications

Notifications sent from changing addresses can end up in junk folders. You can now send all notifications from one constant sender address, which makes it easier to set up allow-list rules so notifications are reliably delivered.

📍 What's new

  • Fixed sender address: Notifications can be sent from a fixed email address.

  • Sender name: An optional sender name can be configured.

  • Fewer spam-filter issues: A constant address avoids the spam-filter problems caused by dynamic sender addresses.

User management improvements

User administration and onboarding are simpler, while security at login stays the same.

📍 What's new

  • Licensed flag: The Licensed flag can now be edited directly from the user details.

  • Phone number optional: A phone number is no longer required during setup, even with MFA enabled.

AI-powered chatbot (beta)

The first version of the Weissr chatbot lets you work with Capex data in natural language. This release focuses on basic request search, filtering and data retrieval, and lays the foundation for more advanced capabilities in future releases.

📍 What's new

  • Search and filter: Find requests by asking in natural language.

  • Create a request: Create a single, basic empty request.

  • Retrieve data: Get request data and selected property values.

  • Open from chat: Open requests directly from the chat through a link.

  • Follow-up questions: Refine results with follow-up questions. If your question is unclear or incomplete, the chatbot asks for clarification before continuing.

  • Permission-aware results: Only requests and data that you have access to are returned.

📌 Note: This is an early version with limited scope. It supports a defined set of actions and queries, may ask for clarification on complex or ambiguous input, and limits the size of results for performance reasons.

Asset data import from Excel

The Excel import for asset data has been redesigned. You can now create new assets and update existing ones in a single workflow.

📍 What's new

  • Column mapping: Upload an Excel file and map its columns to asset properties, with auto-mapping.

  • Import strategies: Create new assets, update existing assets through their External ID, or both.

  • Missing categories created: Categories that do not exist yet are created automatically during the import.

  • Improved export format: The export has yearly outlay columns and an auto-calculated Amount.

  • Import logs: Errors are handled in a structured way and recorded in dedicated import logs.

Chart series customisations

You now have more control over how chart series appear in reports and presentations.

📍 What's new

  • Name, colour and line style: Set a custom name, colour and line style per series.

  • Custom sorting: Sort series by drag and drop.

  • Visibility kept: Series visibility is kept when you navigate between charts.

  • Preserved on duplication: All customisations are kept when you duplicate projects or presentation folders.

  • Division-level charts: Report charts at division level show the correct ML names.

Permissions cleanup

The permissions list is simpler. Legacy permissions that were only used in the .NET version are removed, and related permissions are merged.

📍 What's new

  • Obsolete permissions removed: 10 obsolete permissions are removed, such as Help definition, Site locations, Industries, Formats and Units.

  • Document permissions merged: Document and Document audit log are merged into a single permission.

  • Activation permissions merged: Alternative Activation/Deactivation and its log are merged into a single permission.

  • Renamed permission: "Responsible for current strategy roll over" is renamed to "Manage Current Strategy".

💡 Info: Existing role configurations are migrated automatically.

Asset refactoring

Assets now have a new structure behind the scenes. They are stored separately from the organisational tree, so asset operations can run on their own. This prepares for future features such as dynamic asset grids.

📍 What's new

  • Own storage: Assets are stored in a dedicated table, separate from the project tree.

  • External ID: Each asset gets an External ID. It is generated automatically, read-only and included in exports.

  • System properties: Asset fields such as Name, Amount, Distribution and In use year are now system properties. They are available only in Administration and affect nothing inside the project, except export and import.

  • Stability: Creating, deleting, duplicating and distributing assets is more stable.

Bug fixes

Capex Strategy

  • Cash flow model: the tax shield is calculated correctly for manually distributed outlays.

  • Cash flow model: row operations no longer cause transaction deadlocks.

  • Cash flow model: formulas with ranges and cross-block references are handled correctly.

  • Cash flow model: sensitivity exports and cell editing are more stable.

  • Reports: Show delta values works independently of the base alternative comparison toggle.

  • Reports: table headers in alternative delta reports are aligned and load correctly.

  • Presentations: deactivated alternatives no longer appear as delta-to anchors in presentation charts.

Model Builder

  • Cell references in a duplicated block now point to the duplicated block.

  • Cross-block sheet references that use $ work correctly.

  • The MIRR function and backward range warnings work correctly.

  • The scroll position is kept on long model trees.
